The mega popular Hunger Games trilogy has spawned a resurgence in the centuries old sport of archery. The new found love for archery has been fueled by the highly addictive Hunger Games movie and also the book series. The movie’s heroine, Katniss Everdeen has helped bump the sport of archery to the forefront of pop culture.
Personally I have been enamored with archery since I was a little kid, when I discovered it at a YMCA Camp in Kentucky. Archery to me was so addictive and kept me busy for hours, which I’m sure my parents didn’t mind one bit. Like many things in life, gave it up for other more important endeavors – like girls.
Have always had a issue with weight, so I still to this day workout and diet continuously. It’s imperative that my workouts are always changing. Look, gotta be honest here, most workouts are boring and are repetitive. So back a little while ago I was looking for a new exercise to get my metabolism revved up again. That’s when I remembered archery. Instantly took me back to my youth.
So this was my perfect excuse to break the old bow and arrow out, then something also popped into my head. Why not combine some of what I was already doing and really get my workout going. So here’s what I did…
1. Listen to The Hunger Games Audio Books while doing archery.
Why not make your exercise fun again by burning off the calories with a a old game that everyone will be talking about, if they’re not already talking about; and that’s archery. Get your bow and arrow and start losing weight now. You can make like your in The Hunger Games movie and your kickn’ butt in “The Hunger Games“.
With archery you can burn up to 302 calories an hour depending on your body weight. You will lose that weight fast because you won’t be wondering when your workout will end.
If you take part in archery while listening to your Hunger Games audio CD’s, this is how many pounds (1 pound = 3,500 calories) you can burn per CD set without any diet changes: You should burn approximately a pound with each of these audio cd’s.
Losing over 3 pounds each time you listen.
(Obviously if you’re cutting calories you can burn even more — woo!)
2. Ratchet up the weight loss by combining archery + P90X into your workout.
Now, if you want to take your weight loss up a quantum notch I suggest that you get P90X: Tony Horton’s 90-Day Extreme Home Fitness Workout DVD Program. This will send your body soaring with great results. Lost a lot of weight and man did I look good. I finished the P90X program a couple years ago for the first time and P90X is the real deal. It’s definitely intensive but it’s the best. If you follow the suggested diet, take actually finish the 90 days vitamins, supplements and actually finish the 90 days you will look and feel fantastic.
When I started this workout it zapped me. Was working in a cafe, on my feet all day so it was a bear trying to finish this workout. So I would also suggest taking the P90X results and recovery formula supplement drink, since this will help you refuel after each workout. You’ll need the extra boost because there workouts are intense.
From what I found, P90X burns between 400 and 600 calories an hour. So when I do it, I just assume I’m burning 500 calories an hour. If you do P90X while listening to your Hunger Games audio CD’s, this without any diet changes:
